Karen George

After graduating from the Royal College of Art with an MA(distinction) in Fine Art, Karen skilfully wielded big paint brushes on film sets.

Her illustration journey began when she won the Waterstone’s Picture This Competition; swapping big brushes for small, she illustrated Freddie and the Fairy by Julia Donaldson. The small brushes have teamed up with an array of coloured pencils, and Karen has continued to gather accolades as an author and illustrator - both in the UK and US. In 2024 You’re So Amazing! won the inaugural Inclusive Books for Children Award.

Karen lives in Bristol with her partner, has two grown up sons and a cat called Dr Calamari. When she is not drawing or writing, you’ll find her out on the floor dancing to Northern Soul tunes.

‘With beautifully characterful illustrations and plenty of calming white space, it exudes gentle energy and humour to appeal to every child. This is a stunningly clever book.
